I think the word "current" is use because it describe the a consistent flow of news in our society.. So maybe that's the explanation why the phrase "current events" are created..

I only ask to point out that we need both kinds of attention; but I'll agree that our current fixation on information, almost to the the point of blindness, leads to a pretty myopic understanding of our world.

i think information takes care of itself .. it is what the mind does, particularizes the universe ...

wisdom could be considered context, but i see it benefiting from another consideration, that wisdom is the awareness of the whole while dealing with the part .. think, coexistence of the two ...

i immediately look at the opposite too ... no dots without the curve .... maybe my grandmother was saying this with the thought, unable to see the forest for the trees ....

the pragmatic value of seeing the curve, the arcing flow, it gives a better read on what is about to happen ... and explains why psychics and futurists and leading-edge economists are the only people not surprised by "current events"

Portrayals of flow are available in current events, current affairs media.. ... essays, reviews, docos, blogs, books ... but yes, almost never on the six o'clock news. And these richer pickings take more effort to source and more effort to follow, and do not screech for our attention. You give a reminder of the continual effort and alertness needed to keep our attention flowing in a useful direction.
